The Max Planck Institute of Biophysics
Deadline: April 30, 2023
About the lab
The research group of Eugene Kim at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics, focused on the structure and dynamics of chromosomes, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) to investigate the mechanisms of genome organization by Structural Maintenance of Chromosome (SMC) complexes using in vitro single-molecule and structural methods. The candidate will isolate SMC complexes and analyze their structural and dynamic properties via cryo-electron microscopy and TIRF-based single-molecule imaging. A dynamic, enthusiastic, and international team of biophysicists and biochemists will await the candidate, ready to tackle exciting problems related to genome organization collaboratively.
We are seeking for
- An outstanding experimentalist with a keen interest in biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field of science.
- Prior experience in cryo-EM and/or single-molecule imaging
- Experience with molecular biology and/or in vitro protein biochemistry.
- A creative and independent individual with a strong interest in motor proteins and genome organization.
- Proficiency in English (both speaking and writing)
Please send your application including a cover letter (one-page maximum explaining background and motivation), CV (including min. two references) and the contact details via the “submit” button below until 30.04.2023. Please address any questions to eugene.kim@biophys.mpg.de
