Purdue University

Deadline: May 1, 2023

The Composites Manufacturing Simulation Center of the College of Engineering at Purdue University seeks candidates for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level with a focus in large scale additive manufacturing (LSAM) of composite materials. Composites LSAM is an emerging technology wherein printing geometries are measured in meters, as opposed to centimeters in most additive manufacturing systems. The faculty member will be associated with the School of Industrial Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering. Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates with interests and expertise in design, implementation, and optimization of additive composite manufacturing processes and systems. In addition, knowledge of digital manufacturing and digital twins to improve additive manufacturing control and its impact on the resiliency of supply chains is highly desirable. Further, evidence of combined capability in modeling and simulation with experimental validation for additive manufacturing physics-based phenomena is deemed necessary for success. Successful candidates must have an earned Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or a related discipline by the start of employment and demonstrate potential to build an independent research program, as well as potential to educate and mentor students. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels.
