Deadline: May 1, 2023
Stanford University announces a one-year postdoctoral fellowship starting August 1, 2023 (but this date is flexible), with the potential for renewal for a second year.
The postdoc would join our project on using NLP, dialogue, and speech processing to improve police-community relations by processing and studying the language from police body-worn cameras.
Candidates should have a PhD in Computer Science or a related field with a strong background in NLP and dialogue, interdisciplinary experience in computational social science, and interest and preferably background in working with spoken language. The project encompasses a wide variety of research areas and methods, including modeling conversational interaction and dialogue structure, extracting social and discourse meaning from text and speech, studying social media related to police-community interaction, speech processing, and could also include video processing.
The postdoc would be mentored by Dan Jurafsky (Linguistics and Computer Science), and Jennifer Eberhardt (Psychology and GSPB), the PIs of the research project. You would be part of a large interdisciplinary team and the Stanford NLP Group, a fun, supportive, and collaborative group providing many opportunities for learning, hands-on research and teamwork.
