A graduate assistantship at PhD level is available in Fall 2023 in Tropical Plant Pathology at University of Hawaii at Manoa to study molecular pathogenicity mechanisms of the plant pathogenic oomycete Phytophthora palmivora. Research involves gene functional analyses using CRISPR gene editing technology, protein expression and purification, biomolecular interactions, gene expression analysis, pathogen isolation and infection assays, etc.

 Qualifications: A B.S. or M.S. degree in plant pathology, plant sciences or related majors; good math skills sufficient for making various chemical solutions and media; knowledge in plant pathology and molecular biology; being careful and self-motivated; lab experience in molecular biology techniques. 

Research assistantship funding is available for four years, including a stipend and tuition waiver.
