Purdue University

Deadline: Till the positions are filled.

PhD Applicants

I am looking for bright, highly motivated, and mathematically inclined PhD students (who have a background in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related areas) to work with me on exciting new problems in applications of mathematical concepts to machine learning (classical/quantum).

If interested, please email Prof. Aggarwal. We however regret that we cannot evaluate pre-applications or respond to individual emails. Please note that sending the same e-mail multiple times is not the solution to this problem. For us to be able to consider you for a position at CLAN Labs, you first need to apply to the PhD program at the School of IE at Purdue University. If you have publications, you may wish to include copies of those or at least a resume listing them. If you would like to be considered for a CLAN Labs position, you might want to indicate this in your statement of purpose, so that your application folder is properly routed internally. Also make sure to include your email address, as you will be contacted if there is a potential to go forward towards bringing you into CLAN Labs working with Prof. Aggarwal as your academic advisor.

Visiting Scholar Applicants

Visiting scholars, with external funding, who are interested in the research areas of CLAN are encouraged to apply to Prof. Aggarwal.

Post-doc Applicants

Highly motivated postdocs may feel free to apply. Note that paid postdoc positions are very competitive. We are actively looking for ECE/CS background scholars with interests in mathematical aspects of machine learning or quantum computing. If the research in CLAN Labs interests you, please contact Prof. Aggarwal directly with your resume that includes the contact info of at least two references (one being your PhD advisor), and a brief research statement of your accomplishments and what you would like to work on in the next two years that you would be at CLAN Labs. We will get back to you and your references if there is interest on our side. Purdue is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage applications from qualified women and minority candidates.

MS Research Applicants

Highly motivated MS (with or without thesis) students are welcome if already enrolled at Purdue University. Please send a CV to Prof. Aggarwal, and make an appointment to discuss mutual interests.

If you’re applying to the MS Thesis program and are interested in CLAN Labs research areas, please email Prof. Aggarwal. We however regret that we cannot evaluate pre-applications or respond to individual e-mails. Please note that sending the same email multiple times is not the solution to this problem. For us to be able to consider you for a position at CLAN Labs, you first need to apply to the MS Research program at the School of IE at Purdue University.

However, note that MS Research candidates are typically non-funded, unless they demonstrate exceptional research performance at Purdue.

Undergraduate Research Applicants

Highly motivated undergraduate students in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research, or related areas are welcome if already in Purdue University.

To apply, please contact Prof. Aggarwal.
