Princeton University

Deadline: November 1, 2024

Princeton University is pleased to announce a search for Lewis-Sigler Scholars, a program aimed at attracting talented early-career scientists (0-2 years from PhD) interested in quantitative approaches to biological systems, supporting their intellectual development, and engaging them in multidisciplinary education. The community of scholars will be drawn from the full range of intellectual approaches represented at the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics. Thus, we are looking for Scholars who take experimental, theoretical, or computational approaches, drawing on their backgrounds in biology, chemistry, computer science, genomics, engineering, or physics.

Appointments will be at the rank of Associate Research Scholar with a competitive salary and research support. Appointments will be for three years, with the potential for renewal for a second three-year term appointment, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding.

Candidates should be able to identify mentors on the Institute faculty who match their research interests but should not think of themselves as applying to postdoctoral positions in individual laboratories. Rather our hope is that the community of Scholars will explore new directions, enlivening our research efforts. Scholars may have the opportunity to perform a modest amount of teaching in our multidisciplinary courses, according to a plan that they may develop in conjunction with their mentor(s). While teaching, a Scholar may hold a secondary appointment as a Lecturer in an appropriate department, pending sufficient course enrollments and the approval of the Dean of the Faculty.

We expect new Scholars to join us in September 2025 for the Fall semester of 2025-26 but start dates as early as February 2025 are possible; applicants must be able to provide verification of PhD completion by their start dates.

For full consideration, all application materials should be received by November 1, 2024.

Candidates selected for interview will participate in a symposium on November 15, 2024; applicants are asked to reserve this date.
