Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow in Machine Learning, to work in School of Computer Science, University of Nottingham, UK.

The role is funded as part of the Wellcome Leap In Utero Program. The overall aim of the project is to investigate measures of placental function as risk factors for predicting still birth; this is a highly interdisciplinary project involving obstetricians, engineers, biologists, mathematicians and computer scientists as well as physicists. This post relates to a work package that will be using MRI imaging data and other clinical measures to model the risk of still birth. The project will involve developing MRI based image segmentation methods based on machine learning approaches, image-based biomarker extraction and predictive modelling.

The successful candidate is expected to have experience of developing and evaluating machine learning methods, proficient in Python programming language with machine learning APIs, knowledge of software development methodologies and version controls and excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity on complex information.  Experience with deep learning method development particularly for image segmentation, knowledge of data management and ETL approaches, statistical modelling are highly desirable skills for this role. Strong track record of high-quality publications is a plus.

The post will ideally start from 1st April 2023. This is a full time (36.25 hours), fixed term post to 31st March 2026. Arrangements for job share would be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
