Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Blood Engineering Laboratory of the School of Biomedical Sciences (Ref.: 523987), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Stem Cells, Cancer Biology or related fields, with experience in stem cell culture, flow cytometry, immune cell assays, and mouse models. Applicants will participate in translational research projects aimed at modeling and targeting leukemia cells. Research projects involve i) establishment of leukemic organoids based on our human yolk sac organoids (Chao, 2023. Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy); ii) evaluation of CAR-T and CAR-M cells in vitro; and iii) mono vs combination therapy of CAR-T and CAR-M in mouse models. Dr. Rio Sugimura, Assistant Professor in the School, is an internationally recognized stem cell engineer, whose research focuses on the engineering of immune cells to target hepatocellular carcinoma, and the regulation of immune cells in the tumor microenvironment. Dr. Sugimura is also a Principal Investigator of the Centre of Translational Stem Cell Biology at the Science Park, Hong Kong; and the Director of The Blood Engineering Lab (BEL). The BEL was established in December 2020 which hosts an interdisciplinary environment of cancer immunology, stem cell technology, and informatics.
