Multiple PhD Positions in the Area of Nuclear Fuels and Advanced Characterization Methods

We are looking for enthusiastic students with a MSc or BSc degree to conduct research in the area of materials characterization and advanced nuclear fuels. Students with a degree in any of the following disciplines are encouraged to apply:

  •         mechanical engineering
  •          materials science and engineering
  •          physics

Prospective candidates will be assessed based on how well they meet the following criteria:

  • Excellent degree in their relevant discipline.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

The following skills are desirable:

  • Research background in mechanics of materials.
  • Ability to conduct experiments: we are mainly focusing on in-situ imaging and diffraction experimentation, eg using SEM, (synchrotron) XRD, or neutron diffraction.
  • Ability to develop subroutines in Fortran, Python and MATLAB.
  • Ability to work with commercial finite element packages.
