Project Description:

The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences(JCC, https://www.cityu.edu.hk/jcc/) is building a team of internationally renowned researchers who are actively engaged in advancing animal health and welfare. We aim to make a significant contribution to Hong Kong and the region as a hub for One Health and Animal Welfare through the provision of high-quality education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The successful candidate will join our vibrant team studying the impact of novel and known infectious agents on companion animal health using cutting edge metatranscriptomics. Utilizing minimallyinvasive samples from spontaneous disease cases and healthy animals, the study design will be finalized based on the candidate’s skills, experience, current opportunities and funding.

The appointee will be is based in Hong Kong, a vibrant international hub with where you can choose to immerse yourself in natural landscapes or explore the best of international city life as the mood takes you.

Attributes,requirements and EDI 

Preference will be given to veterinarians with experience in shelter or small animal practice who are eligible to register with the VSBHK. An MSc degree and/or previous research publications are an advantage. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in science or related areas may also apply. The candidate should be a motivated, highly-organized team-player. The candidate should meet City University of Hong Kong’s requirements to be considered for a PhD studentship (https://www.cityu.edu.hk/pg/). International students are required to provide evidence of their proficiency in English language skills.
